Clipcanvas API

We have released an API to give users, resellers and affiliates advanced access to our growing database of video clips. The API is a programming interface that can aid other websites and tools in enabling video search, preview display and purchase of clips. The search functionality has advanced features designed for a number of cases, to help make the Clipcanvas API more interesting. All search features can be combined as you prefer:

• Search by text phrase: This is the standard mode. It will do a freetext match of the tags and other categories set for clips, and return the clips that match.
• Search by submitter: Perhaps you're already a Clipcanvas submitter, and want to sell your own video clips on your own site? This is how.
• Search types can be combined, so it is possible to search for clips from a specific submitter that match a keyword.
• Do you have suggestions for more functionality that could help you make an even better site? Contact us, and we'll see what we can do!

When you do a search, you can also specify which page you're on (for pagination), and how many hits you want to show per page. This should make it simple to integrate on any existing website that already has search.

We've set up some example sites using the API. They are:

• Stock Video Footage - a simple site displaying the search functionality
• Lizenzfreie Videos - same as above, but translated to German
• Video Libre de Droits - simple search enabled site, translated to French
• Video Libre de Derechos - simple video search site, translated to Spanish

OpenCart integration

To make things even easier for anyone wishing to set up a webshop selling stock video footage, we have even integrated our own API with OpenCart. This is still in beta, but should hopefully be available within a few weeks. Then it's a matter of installing the code on your website and letting users in!

How to get started

To get started using the Clipcanvas API, you need to complete the following steps:

• Sign our Clipcanvas API agreement
• Get an API key
• If you're selling footage: choose the appropriate plan, to balance earnings and payments as you require
• If you're selling footage: you must have some funds in your Clipcanvas prepay account
