New video embed codes released on Clipcanvas

embed codes for video on clipcanvasWe are happy to let you know that we just released some brand new embed codes for the videos on offer here at Clipcanvas – woot woot! We are really excited about this and hope you will find good use for them.

Bascially, they allow you to make a number of selections to suit your need, including:

  • both light and dark themes
  • you can enable/disable autoplay
• add a number of social sharing options
  • display related clips or show more clips by the same producer
  • or you could show only one clip (small or medium)
  • toggle footer content
  • and use the ssl-https if you need this
Also, like the videos on Clipcanvas, these also support iPhones and iPads, so you need not worry that your users will only see a link or display something that is not working.

We made this in an iFrame – as you may notice. This is in line with what YouTube recently did, and it gives us more control if we need to improve or update these embeds at a later time without you having to worry about changing anything. Also, this allows us to toggle the different videos for mobile devices  - which is becoming more and more important. The old embed codes will still work, but they are no longer available to use for new embeds.

In some CMS systems, you may need to add a plugin to use the iFrame (like on the main WP-blogs hosted on wordpress.com for instance) – but this is widely supported and should not be a big challenge to get working.

We can think of a number of things you could use this for – if you want some ideas:
  • Marketing your own videos and bring attention to your work (for producers especially)
  • Showcasing a cool widget with a number of clips
  • Giving examples to your text or showing users some really nice videos, or other interesting uses you may think of

Are you wondering what this looks like? Well, here is a worldly example using the default settings:

In any case, we hope you will enjoy this new tool and make good use of it!

Online Video Editing beta released on Clipcanvas.com

Press release: Clipcanvas launches online video editor beat in combination with royalty free video, offering more than 230.000 video clips online.

(Oslo, Norway – Oct 12th 2011) Following it’s launch in mid-2008, Clipcanvas has grown to become one of the largest online services where you can buy video clips to use in video production, with more than 230.000 professional and royalty-free video clips in their rapidly expanding collection. Today, Clipcanvas announced it is also offering online video editing and a small but growing selection of free video clips that users can download and use at no cost. These clips are offered by courtesy of the large and evolving base of videographers, producers and film photographers currently selling their works through the service.

The early trial-beta for the online video editor can be tried here and allows you to add clips, text and effects, clip, trim and edit your work, and also include royalty-free music as you please. At present, you can buy and download video clips via the service on this page like usual, but in the future you will also be able to create your entire video on Clipcanvas and download this directly. The main idea behind the video editor is to give users the opportunity to easily make video online at low cost. CEO Cato Salter explains: “Developing Clipcanvas has always been about giving the customers what they want and to make it as easy for them as possible to create videos and use video clips. When we added options so users could download any codec or format they wanted, this was done to avoid issues with cross-platform proprietary software or video technology, thus keeping it simple. As far as I know, we were the first to be offering this, and I believe we are still the only service doing it at this level, much to the benefit of our clients.”

The editor is also helps keeping things simple, according to Cato, he continues: “We now see a strong and growing demand for stock footage to use professionally, but some of our newer and less experienced users often do not have the expertise to handle different codecs but they still want to make videos to use on their websites, blogs, in-store and for events and presentations. This is why we decided to bring video editing into the service. What could be better than being able to create your own online videos or promotion videos in a few minutes, and at a fraction of the cost? The editor is of course cloud-based and works in much the same way as the YouTube Video Editor, only at Clipcanvas you can source an endless range of professionally shot and beautiful video clips that you can also use legally. For a small fee, you get your hands on what you probably would not afford before, and this opens up a huge potential for creative users.”

While the editor is still in early trial-beta, it is possible to create video projects and save these for later. When the full version is released is not yet determined, and depends on a number of factors, according to Cato: “At the moment, we are just biding our time to see what kind of response we are getting on this. So far, we are quite happy with the results. In any case, this is not going to interfere with our traditional offering of royalty-free stock footage and video clips. It is more a way of adding value for the users by expanding the offering. We really look forward to releasing this in full ourselves, and all our friends and followers will be duly notified of course. Meanwhile, we hope our users are happy with the free stock footage our production community is offering and the main collections of clips that are available to buy.”
